Il Casale logo Gregoriano

The hill of Barbiano, where "CASALE GREGORIANO" lies, dominates the surrounding hills and valleys of the Tuscan countryside commanding a fantastic view of the city of San Gimignano less than one km away.

It is believed that in this strategic position a watch tower was originally built about the beginning of the 14th century, in fact only such a construction built for the defence of the town could merit walls that exceed one metre in thickness such as those found in "CASALE GREGORIANO".

In 1700, in the most important rural territory rendered productive thanks to the great land reclamation programme of the Granduca Pietro Leopoldo, the house was built around the old watch tower.

Of elegant and refined proportions the house is a splendid composition of rural and urban architecture.

In harmony with its Renaissance origins the house has been recently restored to offer a high degree of modern comfort whilst paying great respect to its architectural heritage as particularly expressed in the crossed arched ceilings of the ground floor.

Each of the five well designed apartments has been furnished by local craftsmen that have worked with the traditional materials of chestnut wood, iron, brass, cotton and travertine marble in the very best traditions of Tuscan craftsmanship.

Each apartment offers all the comfort of a refined hotel and has a kitchen/dining room, living room and one or more bedrooms each with its own bathroom.

They have all been designed to make you feel comfortably at home whilst you visit the splendid city of San Gimignano.
